Sheila Hixson Taken to Hospital from Statehouse: Reports

The delegate from Silver Spring has reportedly complained of a rapid heartbeat in recent weeks while at the state legislature.

Delegate Sheila Hixson of Silver Spring was taken to a hospital Thursday afternoon after the legislative session wrapped for the day, reports said.

Several lawmakers told The Washington Post that Hixson, 83, has complained of a rapid heartbeat during the session.

Senate President Thomas Mike V. Miller Jr. said on the Senate floor Thursday that Hixson had been taken to the hospital.

Hixson, a Democrat, has served as a member of the House of Delegates since 1976 and is chair of the House Ways and Means Committee.
