Shooting Of 16-Year-Old At Silver Spring Block Party Still Active Case

Montgomery County Police detectives are still investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old girl at a Silver Spring block party.

SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police detectives are asking the public for information about the June 2 shooting at a block party in Silver Spring. No suspects have been arrested as of Friday morning.

Officers responded around 9:58 p.m., to multiple reports of shots being fired, at an apartment block party in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Investigators determined that a dark colored sedan with three to four occupants drove up and began firing at a group of people at the block party

Bullets hit three cars parked at the apartment building and officers recovered more than 30 shell casings from a handgun and a high-powered rifle, according to police.

Anyone with information or who attended the party and has cellphone video of the incident is asked to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-5530.

Information about the shooting may also be submitted by calling Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A tipster who provides information that leads to an arrest in this case may be eligible for up to $10,000 in reward money. Callers may remain anonymous.
