Fatal Shooting Victim Named; Silver Spring Shooter Still At-Large
Montgomery County Police identified the victim in Monday night's fatal shooting on Fairdale Road in Silver Spring.
Updated (Oct. 25, 9:20 a.m.): This story was updated with information about a Mercedes crashing into a police cruiser.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County Police identified 22-year-old Rakiy Deinol Gardner as the victim in Monday night's fatal shooting in Silver Spring. Four other people were hospitalized, including a police officer.
Police and and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded around 10:57 p.m. to the 14300 block of Fairdale Road, after receiving a 911 call from a man who said his brother had been shot and was having difficulty breathing, according to a News4 report.

Arriving on the scene, emergency personnel found Gardner suffering from an apparent gunshot wound outside the residence. Despite attempts to revive him, Gardner was pronounced dead on the scene.
A black Mercedes CLA 250 was seen leaving the scene at a high rate of speed, according to police. It then collided a police officer who arriving at the scene in a marked cruiser. The officer and the driver of the Mercedes were taken to the hospital to be medically evaluated.

Police found a second shooting victim, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Although police took a person into custody, they were later determined not to be a suspect at this time.
While police were responding to the scene of the shooting, they received multiple calls of a suspicious man in the 14300 block of Bradshaw Drive. Officers responded to the scene, and found a gunshot victim. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
