Silver Spring Caterer Adds $100K To Her Bank Account With Lottery Win

A 44-year-old caterer from Silver Spring won the $100,000 top prize on an In the Money scratch-off ticket from the Maryland Lottery.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 44-year-old caterer from Silver Spring is $100,000 richer thanks to the $10 she spent on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket, according to a release.

On her way home from work, the woman often stops at Del Mercado Exxon located at 2201 Bel Pre Road. On a recent visit to the Silver Spring gas station, the woman bought two In the Money scratch-offs and three of the new Frogger instant tickets, which offer a second-chance promotion.

As the woman was preparing dinner at home, she decided to see if any of her tickets were winners. After winning $43 on the Frogger games, the woman discovered that she'd won the $100,000 top prize on one of the In the Money scratch-offs.

The 44-year-old caterer told lottery officials that she immediately called her mother to share the good news. The winnings will be used to buy a new home and allow the woman to continue taking care of her beloved nieces and nephews, according to the release.

For selling the top-prize winning scratch-off, Del Mercado Exxon will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
