Silver Spring College Students Earn Accolades From Their Schools

SILVER SPRING, MD — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Silver Spring area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

University of Maryland Global Campus held its first in-person graduation ceremonies since 2019 during "Spring Grad Walk 2022," an innovative experience designed to accomodate thousands of graduates and guests while protecting the health and safety of the university community. Maxx Kronisch of Silver Spring graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a minor in Computer Science on May 22, during commencement ceremonies at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Alyssa McLeod and Caitlyn Neils of Silver Spring earned dean's list honors during the spring 2022 semester at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. To attain this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.5 average on a 4.0 grading scale.

Alexander Hall graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing during commencement ceremonies on May 7, at the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida.

Aryss Lindsey of Silver Spring, who is majoring in communication studies - interpersonal/organizational track, was named to the spring 2022 dean's list at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. Dean's List recognition is awarded to full-time undergraduate students who have earned at least a 3.4 grade point average for not less than 12 semester hours of credit in the fall semester.

To be eligible for dean's list honors at FSU, a student must undertake a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative semester grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

The following students graduated during May 2022 commencement ceremonies at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York:

Ronan Pleszkoch of Silver Spring was named to the spring 2022 dean's list with honors at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire. Students named to the dean's list have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance during a semester enrolled in a full-time course load (12 or more graded credits). Students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors. Pleszkoch is majoring in History.
