Silver Spring Cook Whips Up First Lottery Win

A Silver Spring cook claims the $50,000 top prize on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off game and will use it for bills, vacation.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Montgomery County cook found the perfect recipe for a $50,000 top-prize Maryland Lottery scratch-off win.

The 32-year-old stopped by Crescent Convenience in Bethesda and bought five You Win scratch-offs. He added a pinch of Lottery luck, took the games home to play and enjoyed a hearty win that has kept him smiling.

The Silver Spring resident said he had no particular reason for selecting the games. He saw them and decided to buy a few to see if the You Win game would deliver a win. “I was very happy,” the lucky man told the Maryland Lottery.

The happy cook said he will pay bills with his prize and possibly take a vacation.

Crescent Convenience, the retailer at 7475 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket in the $5 game.
