Silver Spring Man Charged in PG County Homicide: Police

Kumalo Ealom of Silver Spring is charged with murder in the shooting death of a District Heights man, police say.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man has been arrested for the murder of a Prince George's County man, say police, who have not disclosed a possible motive for the killing.

Prince George's County Police say Kumalo Ealom, 40, of Hampton Hallows in Silver Spring, is charged with fatally shooting Erik Kelly, 26, of Pemberell Place in District Heights.

Shortly after midnight on Monday, officers with the Bladensburg Police Department were called to the 4600 block of Red Hawk Terrace for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found Kelly outside in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police have not said what led them to identify Ealom as the suspect. Ealom is charged with first- and second-degree murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
