Silver Spring Man Pays No Taxes on $50K Lottery Prize
A Silver Spring man plans to buy his family their dream house after winning $50,000 in a Maryland Lottery game.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A 34-year-old drywall specialist from Silver Spring became the first Maryland Lottery player to claim the $50,000 top prize on the new All Cash No Taxes scratch-off.
The father of three decided to pick up a few scratch-offs from Colesville Beer & Wine in Silver Spring during his day off from work. The avid scratch-off player bought a few of the $5 All Cash No Taxes instant tickets because he liked the idea of not having to pay taxes if he won big. Winning big was exactly what he did.
“After I saw the amount of money I had won, I was a little shocked,” he told Maryland Lottery officials. “I started to realize that I could buy that dream house that my wife and I have been wanting to buy for our three kids.”

The Montgomery County man said the couple will save whatever remains of the prize after making a down payment on a house. “This is such a blessing and life changing event for us,” he said.
For selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game, Colesville Beer & Wine located at 13468 New Hampshire Ave. will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
