Silver Spring Man Wins $50K By Matching 5 Numbers On MD Lottery Ticket
A 61-year-old Silver Spring man wasn't sure whether he'd won big at first, because the numbers were too small on his phone screen to read.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring man won $50,0000 from the Maryland Lottery on a Bonus Match 5 quick-pick ticket he'd bought at a Rockville store for the May 31 drawing.
When the 61-year-old man checked his ticket using the Maryland Lottery mobile app after the drawing, he wasn't sure whether he'd won big or not.
“The very first line of my ticket matched the numbers drawn,” he said. “But the phone screen is so small. I had to take out my laptop to double check so I could see the numbers on a bigger screen.”

When the father of one asked his wife to look at the screen, she thought he'd won only $500.
“When she realized it was a $50,000 win, she made sure I signed the ticket and I gave it to her for safekeeping," the man told lottery officials.
