Silver Spring Mother Wins $100K Lotto Ticket
The Silver Spring mother did not realize she had won $100,000 until she showed the lottery ticket to her friend.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring mother who won $100,000 on a scratch-off credits her success to an entirely different jackpot game. The 44-year-old winner, who got her ticket at Giant Food in Wheaton, said it was the Mega Millions that compelled her to buy the 50x The Cash scratch-off.
"I almost never play," the woman said in a Maryland Lottery press release. "Maybe twice a month, maybe three times. It just never occurs to me to get a ticket."
"I was about to walk right by it when all of the billion-dollar Mega Millions excitement that’s been going on suddenly popped in my head," the winner added. "That's all it took."
