Silver Spring Teen Charged As Adult After Gun Brought To School
A Silver Spring teenager, who allegedly brought an unloaded handgun to Springbrook High School on Tuesday, is being charged as an adult.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A Silver Spring teenager faces adult charges after allegedly bringing an unloaded handgun to Springbrook High School on Tuesday, according to officials.
Montgomery County Police said 17-year-old Solomon Henderson was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a person under 21 years old, and possession of a firearm on school property.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Springbrook High School officials learned that Henderson had an unloaded .40 caliber handgun and an empty magazine in his gym bag, police said. The school resource officer was notified.

Upon investigation, police determined that the handgun was purchased legally and is registered to the teenager's father. Officials said they did not think Henderson was a threat or had the intention to harm faculty and students.
Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call the Firearms Investigations Unit at 240-773-6400.
