Teen Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Beltsville Man In Silver Spring
A second suspect remains at large following the Jan. 8 shooting, police said.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Authorities have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a Beltsville man in Silver Spring earlier this month.
Yoel Christ Tie of Gaithersburg was taken into custody Thursday and charged with second-degree murder and felony use of a firearm following the Jan. 8 killing of 43-year-old Gavin St. Aubyn Boothe, Montgomery County police said in a news release.
According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday near an Exxon gas station located in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road.

When officers arrived, they found Boothe in the roadway adjacent to the gas station, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. First responders provided aid, but he was later pronounced dead.
Montgomery County detectives obtained surveillance video showing Boothe exchanging words with two unknown males. Shortly after, Boothe was shot.

The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Boothe died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the death a homicide.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Tie as one of the suspects captured on surveillance video. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Thursday, and he was arrested at his Gaithersburg apartment later the same day.
Tie is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit pending a bond hearing on Monday.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The second suspect remains at-large.
