Where To See Santa In Silver Spring This Christmas Season

SILVER SPRING, MD — Santa Claus will be back in Silver Spring this holiday season after a couple of years of COVID-19 restrictions that made it difficult for kids to crawl up on his lap and make their case that they’ve been good boys and girls over the last year.

Visits and pictures with Santa are at the heart of many families’ holiday traditions, but the coronavirus pandemic gave them a lump of coal. Malls and other places took social distancing measures in both 2020 and 2021 to help contain the spread of the virus, moving Santa meet-ups largely online.

Virtual visits are still an option in many places, but there’s nothing quite like seeing jolly old St. Nick live and in person. Near Silver Spring, kids have several chances:

Photos with Santa: Have your photo taken with Santa through Dec. 24, at Ellsworth Place, which is located at 8661 Colesville Road in Silver Spring.

Pictures with Santa: Celebrate the holidays on Saturday, Dec. 3, at King Farm Village Center, which is located at 403 Redland Blvd. in Rockville. There will be a DJ, faceprinting and an opportunity for children to have their picture taken with Santa.

Where is Santa In Hanover?: Have your photo taken with Santa through Dec. 24, at Arundel Mills, which is located at 7000 Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover. Reservations and free calls from Santa can be booked online.

Where Is Santa In Wheaton?: Have your photo taken with Santa through Dec. 24, at Westfield Wheaton Plaza, which is located at 11160 Viers Mill Road in Wheaton. Reservations and free calls from Santa can be booked online.

Photos with Santa: Children can have their photo taken with Santa through Dec. 24, at Westfield Montgomery Mall, which is located at 7101 Democracy Blvd. in Bethesda.

Santa arrived Nov. 12 at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Santa’s Wonderland in Hanover and will hold court through Christmas Eve. Reservations are encouraged.

Santa will be at Macy’s stores in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston and Orlando. Macy's Santaland at Home allows children, including those in Silver Spring, meet Santa virtually.
