White Oak Medical Center Opens Its Doors In Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD — Adventist HealthCare's new, all-private room hospital in Silver Spring is now open.

On Aug. 25, the 180-bed White Oak Medical Center officially replaced the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, which is now a 24/7 urgent care center for minor injuries and illnesses.

Over the past several months, facility staff members conducted drills to prepare for the big transition — which has been seven years in the making, according to WTOP. Ambulances transported more than 100 patients to Montgomery County's newest hospital on Sunday.

White Oak Medical Center is located at 12100 Plum Orchard Dr., less than 10 miles from the old facility.

According to White Oak officials, the $400 million hospital is equipped with private patient rooms, a nationally recognized heart care program, larger operating rooms, and other state-of-the-art treatments, services, and technologies.

They add that the facility is projected to bring $5 billion to Maryland's economy and create more than 7,500 jobs.
