Winning $4M Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Montgomery County

While one lucky player in Illinois snagged the $555 million jackpot, the winning Maryland ticket matched all five white balls.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A winning Mega Millions ticket worth $4 million was sold in Silver Spring ahead of Tuesday's drawing, according to state lottery officials.

While one lucky player in Illinois snagged the $555 million jackpot, the winning Maryland ticket matched all five white balls and had an automatic X4 multiplier, boosting the ticket’s value to $4 million.

The numbers for the March 10 drawing were 16, 21, 30, 35 and 65, with a Mega Ball of 7.

Maryland's winning ticket was purchased at Giant Food, located at 13490 New Hampshire Ave. in Colesville. The retailer earns a $2,500 bonus for selling the ticket.

A second ticket sold in Illinois also matched the five white balls to win $5 million, according to the Mega Millions website. Find complete drawing results here

After Tuesday's big win, the jackpot resets to $50 million.

To play Mega Millions in Maryland, players must be 18 years or older. Tickets can be purchased at any lottery retailer or created online on the Maryland Lottery’s mobile app.

Mega Millions drawings are held twice a week on Tuesday and Friday nights at 11 p.m. ET.

Tickets are $5 each, with a built-in multiplier feature added in April that automatically increases non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. Previously, the base ticket was $2, and the multiplier was an optional $1 add-on in most states.

Winners are encouraged to sign the backs of tickets and keep winning tickets in a safe location, according to the Maryland Lottery. Tickets for draw games expire 182 days after the drawing.
