Yoga for Survivors of Trauma: You Are Not A Victim
There is a way to move forward. This workshop can help

Survivors of trauma, abuse, disaster, accidents or crime, can end up with wounds physically and psychologically. In order to heal from trauma, a connection must be made with oneself, including one's body.
This special workshop is taught by Cheryl Kravitz, APR, CFRE, RYT200, a graduate of the Willow Street Yoga Teacher Training Program. It will be held on Saturday, February 24 from 2:30 - 4:30 PM at the Willow Street Yoga Takoma Park location.
Ms. Kravitz has received additional certification to teach yoga to survivors of trauma. She has taught yoga to members of the military, survivors of domestic violence, college students and at classes in Maryland and DC. Her personal yoga journey changed her life, and she explains it in an article she wrote a few years ago for The Yoga Diaries: theyogadiaries.net/tag/cheryl-kravitz/

She says that numerous studies have shown that yoga programs designed specifically for victims of trauma-programs that include regulated breathing, controlled movement and mindfulness practices - can have far - ranging benefits for any participant. Improvements have been shown in mental health (self-regulation, self-esteem) and physical health (better sleep, a reduction in gastric symptoms and many other positive outcomes).
