• 2026 Incarcerated Students Are The Focus Of A Program Being Developed By UMBC Toward Offering Higher Education (umbc.edu) — Incarcerated people at the Central Maryland Correctional Facility in Sykesville could soon gain access to UMBC-led college-level courses and certificate pathways in fields like data science and project management. Backed by a new University System of Maryland grant, UMBC is planning a yearlong effort with local partners, including Carroll Community College, to design a long-term prison education program.
