TAKOMA PARK, MD — New traffic cameras are coming to Montgomery County's Takoma Park area this month.
The Takoma Park Police Department announced this week that new stop sign cameras would become operational on Aug. 17.
A 30-day warning period will be in effect at first, but things change by Sept. 16, when citations begin.
The new cameras will be activated at the following locations:
In line with past camera enforcement programs, the department said the new installations are intended to "encourage compliance with traffic laws, reduce dangerous driving behaviors, and enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists within the City's school zones."
