8 Simple Weight Loss Tips

Dear Lori:

Gosh, I am really trying to lose weight.ย  I donโ€™t know where I am going wrong.ย  I am having very little success.ย  Sometimes I feel I am making progress, but then my weight creeps right back up.ย  I think I am eating well.ย  I just donโ€™t know what to do.ย  Can you please give me some guidance?

Dear Weight Woes:

Donโ€™t fret.ย  Weight loss is simple.ย  It often seems difficult; the food industry, our search for convenience and our general nature to overcomplicate things make it harder than it has to be.ย  To maintain healthy weight, we need to be healthy; in tune with nature and the natural way to eat.ย  ย ย Follow these tips and your health will abound and your weight will adjust to match your vibrant health.

So here goes:

#1.ย  Drink purified water and fresh made juice & smoothies.ย  That is it.ย  Yeah ok, you can indulge in herbal tea a bit, but your main drinks should be as listed above.ย  Avoid sodas.ย  They are filled with sugar, artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners & phosphoric acid.ย  Aspartame drinks are even worse!ย  Aspartame is the most dangerous additive in our food supply.ย  It is a neurotoxin and is linked to parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, dementia, alzheimers, depression, migraines and more.ย  Toxins are stored in your fat cells!ย  Yes, diet drinks and food products make you fatter!ย  Shocker?ย  Thought the opposite? Thatโ€™s marketing for ya.ย  Juices off the store shelves are pasteurized and without true nutrition.ย  Ignore those labels that say 100% this vitamin or that.ย  Those claims refer to synthetic vitamins added back because pasteurization killed all the real ones.ย 

#2. Breakfast should only be raw fruit, supplemented with raw veggies.ย  No, oatmeal is not the best breakfast, nor is eggs, bacon, milk and cereal, waffles, pancakes, etc.ย  FRUIT.ย  ALONE - or supplemented with raw veggies.ย  Fruit digests easily and quickly and efficiently and effortlessly if eaten correctly.ย  Digestion is the single most energy consuming activity that your body undergoes.ย  A heavy morning meal utilizes lots of digestive energyโ€ฆwhich equates to plain โ€˜ole energy.ย  You know, the kind that gets you going, something most of us kind of like to have.ย  ย Another reason to simply eat (or juice, or blend) fruit in the A.M. is because of the digestive cycles.ย  In the morning your body is still in the elimination cycle.ย ย  That means your body is still trying to get rid of yesterdayโ€™s food and doesnโ€™t want more to deal with yet.ย  Be kind to your body.

#3. Consume 80% of your diet as raw plant foods.ย  This shouldnโ€™t require explanation.ย  Plants receive their energy from our sun, the king of earthly energy.ย  This energy is released in our bodies when we consume these plant foods.ย  Our cells thrive on this sort of energy.ย  Also, once cooked or processed, the nutrients are dead, gone, useless.

#4. Consume organic, local, homegrown and non-GM food.ย  Herbicides and pesticides not only disrupt the environment (which we are a part of), but our endocrine system.ย  This is directly related to our metabolism.ย  So if weight loss is your goal, you should always be conscientiously leaving toxins out of your meal plan.

#5. Get rid of artificial sweeteners & processed foods.ย  (eat REAL FOOD).ย  They are nutrition-less.ย  And the toxins are stored in fat cells, not to mention that some of those toxins also kill our brain cells.ย  Also, processed foods often conceal their โ€œsecretโ€ ingredients.ย  So even if you are label savvy, donโ€™t get too cocky, all ingredients are not made public knowledge. Hmmm (suspicious)

#6. No fast food.ย  The previous 2 numbers should cover this, but it is important, so I mentioned it again.

#7.ย  De-Stress.ย  I know this sounds easier than it often is.ย  But stress can lead to lots of imbalances in the body leading to digestive disturbances and metabolism disruptions.ย  Meditate, deep-breathe, even if for only 5 minutes at a time, do yoga, pray or take a hot bath (by the way, detoxifying and relaxing bath salts coming soon to nutrition-alive.com/cart , my web-store).ย  Or do whatever works for you.ย 

#8. Move your body baby!ย  People are often overcomplicating exercise.ย  Just get your butt up and move it or lose it.ย  Jump or dance around your house.ย  Take the laundry to the basement in tiny loads to force you to boogie up and down the steps more often.ย  Walk with your pals even if only around the block.ย  And try to take some time to do gentle stretches.ย
