Brotman Financial Group Named Finalist for Small Employer Award in 2012 Maryland Business Philanthropy Awards

Brotman Financial Group, Inc., a financial services company whose professionals offer wealth management, announced today that it has been selected as a finalist for the Small Employer Award in the 2012 Maryland Business Philanthropy Awards by the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Baltimore Business Journal. The program annually recognizes small, medium, and large Maryland businesses that have made significant contributions through financial support, in-kind donations, or volunteer efforts to Maryland non-profit organizations and/or schools. This year’s winners will be announced at the “National Philanthropy Day in Maryland” event to be held at noon on November 16, 2012 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront.

As a finalist, Brotman Financial Group is being recognized for its financial support of 26 different local organizations since September 2011. Most notably, the firm has made major, multi-year gifts to the Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company, Leadership Maryland, and Stevenson University, where a scholarship in the firm’s name is funded to provide junior- and senior-year students with the money needed to close their financial aid gap in an effort to help them complete their degrees.

The Brotman Financial Group staff members are frequent volunteers for local organizations, including Stevenson University as well as Leadership-Baltimore County and its various initiatives. Eric Brotman, the firm’s president and managing principal, volunteers for both the St. Joseph Medical Center Planned Giving Council and the Comptroller of Maryland’s Business Advisory Council. He is also leader for industry-specific organizations, including the Financial Planning Association of Maryland and the Baltimore Estate Planning Council, and serves on the Board of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.  His partner, Brent Weiss, is a member of Leadership-Baltimore County’s Class of 2013 and volunteers with the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce. In addition, Brotman Financial Group employees frequently donate funds and run in charity road races for organizations around the region.
