Friends & Farms, a Howard County based company, announces the launch of a new vegetarian basket featuring only local and regional foods. Friends & Farms sources these farm fresh food items from sustainable, regional growers, makers and bakers, packs them in weekly grocery baskets, and distributes them to customers throughout central Maryland using a network of convenient pickup locations. Vegetarian baskets are available for immediate sale beginning the week of March 10, 2013.
The vegetarian basket is designed to feed two people several meals throughout the week. Each week’s basket is packed with a variety of items including eggs, milk, legumes, nuts, dry goods and seasonal produce items. Accompanying the vegetarian basket are nutritionally balanced recipes designed to meet the needs of the area’s busy residents.
“We are so thrilled to meet the needs of the vegetarian community,” said Philip Gottwals, co-founder of Friends & Farms. “We have been planning to provide a vegetarian offering for many months, but we were not prepared to make the offering until we were certain that the right suppliers were onboard. We have also been working diligently during this time to develop recipes that match the baskets contents to create an enjoyable cooking and dining experience for our customers.”
