Timonium Optimists - Bringing Out the Best in Kids

The Timonium Optimist Club meets at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2004 Greenspring Drive, Timonium, MD for dinner once or twice each month to Bring out the Best on Kids.

Feb 4 Meeting -

  • Our Student Of The Month was Marie Chang, a 5th grader from Warren Elementary School, with an A average. She is a member of the math club, the Black Eyed Susan Club, and the WCUB a live TV broadcast at Warren. Marie also volunteers at the Humane Society and the school library and loves to read and dance. She hopes to become a veterinarian.
  • Our speaker was Robert Davies, a former Chief Mechanical Engineer at BG&E, who talked to us about global warming.
  • We welcomed Kathy Angel, a new member who joined the club.

  • This was our annual Club Essay Contest.  The topic for this year was "How can I help my friends recognize their value?" Congratulations to our top 3 contestants, 8th grade students from St Joseph School:
  • Patrick Norris - First place
  • Amanda Prater - Second place
  • Stephanie Brocato - Third place
  • Patrick will advance to the Maryland South Delaware District Contest to compete against other club winners for a $2,500 scholarship prize.
  • Thanks to Dolores Righter for chairing the event and to our judges Patricia Nardone, Janet Nickel and William Stansbury.
