Country Music Star Blake Shelton Joins State Fair Concert Series

Country music senstation Blake Shelton will be joining this summer for the . 

Shelton will be performing alongside opening act Chris Young on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale Saturday. 

Shelton was named the 2010 Country Music Awards male vocalist of the year. You can watch his acceptance speech here. 

“Blake Shelton is another example of our commitment to bring nationally recognized entertainment to the Maryland State Fair,” said fairgrounds president and general manager Howard “Max” Mosner.

Concert promoters are still working out details on who will fill the final performing slot for the fair's concert series. 

Shelton is best known for his No. 1 singles "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking," "All About Tonight" and "Hillbilly Bone." His latest album LOADED: The Best of Blake Shelton, debuted in the Top 10 on Country Charts. 

"This has been an amazing year for me," said Shelton, in a release. "If you would have told me when I started out that I would have two major awards, a CD in the upper reaches of the charts, a sold-out show at the Ryman Auditorium and a career that's generally on fire, I would have thought you were pulling my leg.  

"The crowds are great," he added. "But, then again, we're there for the same reason—to have a great time and share music that tells our stories and celebrates our lives."

Justin Bieber, Gretchen Wilson and Bret Michaels were the featured headliners for the 2010 series.
