The Baltimore Folk Music Society, www.bfms.org, has sponsored contra dances since 1975. Come find out why BFMS is still going strong!Videos are on the website: http://www.bfms.org/freefallbaltimore.php
For the second year in a row, BFMS was been chosen by Free Fall Baltimore to have 2 Free Dances during October - October 9 and October 23. If you are new to contra dancing, come at 7:30 for the new dancer workshop. When you come for the first time you will receive a second time free pass, so that you can actually dance for free 3 times! Contra dancing is very friendly community dancing. All ages are welcome, and all ages do participate. Where else in town would you find high school and college students and seniors having a blast, and all ages in between, dancing together to the same music? It is great aerobic exercise, but you don't notice, because you are having so much fun. As they say, if you can walk, you can dance! We always dance to live music. some of the best bands in the region and in the country play for our dances. The music comes from the Irish, French-Canadian, Southern and Appalachian traditions. The Wednesday dances are held at Lovely Lane Church, 2200 St. Paul Street, from 8 PM to 10:30 PM. The organization will help with car pools. E-mail: amdance@bfms.org .
