Dalmatians, Draft Horses and Steam Engine Demos, The 36th Annual Steam Show

 




Cool off at the hottest place in town! Run under the cascades of water as the 1899 Steam-powered Fire Engine flows up to 500 gallons a minute! The Fire Museum in Lutherville opens the summer season with the 36th Annual Steam Show, Saturday, May 4th, 2013, from 10 - 2 p.m.


 See how fire engines operated in the 1800s and learn about the history of the fire service.

New this year, five hand-pumped fire engines from the early 1800s will be on display outside. Two engines served in Maryland during the War of 1812. Try operating the 1853 hand -pumped fire “enjine.” Teams of 20 can raise water up to 75 feet!


 The show features Dalmatians and teams of draft horses, demonstrations of late-1800s horse-drawn fire engines, and rides in an 1898 hose wagon.  In addition, there are firefighting contests for the kids, steam engine models and a magician performing inside.

                                                                                                                                                       The Prigel Family Creamery and other vendors will be offering ice cream and food.


 Open 10 – 4 pm on Saturdays, May to December, and Wednesday to Saturday, June thru August. Events outside are free.


 Museum Admission Children (2-18) $5, Adults $12, Seniors and Firefighters $10.
