Three professors visiting Loyola University Maryland from the University at Bialystok in Poland will present “21st Century Education in Poland: Changes and Challenges” on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Lounge at Loyola’s graduate campus in Timonium. The lecture is free and open to the public.
The professors will provide their perspective on the critical nature of education in Poland, including the debate over the goals of restructuring the educational system in order to meet the demands of the ever-changing political, social, and economic realities of Europe and the world. Specifically, Elwira Krynska, Ph.D., dean of the faculty of pedagogy and psychology, will discuss changes in Polish higher schools (universities) in light of the Bologna Declaration; Anna Kienig, Ph.D., deputy dean for student affairs, will discuss issues in the transition of children from kindergarten to primary school; and Rafał Piwowarski, Ph.D., deputy dean for research, will discuss access to education in Poland.
