GREAT ESCAPE: A (Fake) Bloody and Dirty Date Night

Patch finds a fun parents' night out each week so you can keep your babysitters employed!

If youโ€™ve got a romantic dinner planned for next Friday night, wear something that you can rip up afterwards. Douse some fake blood on it, rub in a healthy handful of dirt, and head over to The Avenue at White Marsh.

A major zombie invasion scene is being filmed at 11 p.m. on July 8 for a movie called โ€œMy Boring Zombie Apocalypse,โ€ and theyโ€™re looking for as many zombie extras as they can get.

Pay your babysitter extraโ€”youโ€™ll be busy till 2 a.m. Or, feed the kids some espresso beans and let them stay up late and tag along too. Theyโ€™ll enjoy the night as much as you, remember it forever, and probably not even be scarred for lifeโ€”or scared. Extras of all ages are welcome.

The shops at The Avenue will be closed, but there will be contests and prizes to keep it fun. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided, in addition to the entertainment of watching your neighbors stumble around in ripped jeans with ghastly expressions.

Not sure which kind of ghastly to go for?

Hereโ€™s the ghoulish low-down from the event page on Facebook: โ€œWe will have make-up artists on hand, but you are encouraged to come in costume and make-up. Go for more of a 28 Days Later type zombie (bloody and dirty) than a Night of the Living Dead zombie (pale and decaying).โ€

Hear that? Yes to the blood, and no to the decay.

Apparently youโ€™re playing a fresh zombie.

Copies of the release that every participant must sign will be available in limited quantities at the shoot. To make sure youโ€™re covered, get your release ahead of time. Email a photo of yourself to casting@boringzombie.com, and theyโ€™ll hit you back a with a release. Itโ€™s a different release for the under-18 set, which require a parentโ€™s signature, so make sure youโ€™ve got the right one.

Zombies donโ€™t like the rain, apparently. Probably the camera equipment doesnโ€™t either. Rain date is the very next night, Saturday June 9, same time and place.

See you there and weโ€™ll eat your brains for dinner!
