Police Find Body Outside of Lutherville Laboratory Elementary School

UPDATE— Police have identified the body of the deceased man, found outside of Lutherville Laboratory.

Jeffrey Young Bonsall, 57, of no fixed addressed, was found on May 3 by officers who responded to the elementary school after several students reported seeing a man sleeping on the grounds.

A staff member called 911 after discovering Bonsall's lifeless body.

The cause of death is unknown, though there were no signs of foul play. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

ORIGINAL— A man's body was found outside of on Tuesday afternoon. 

Police responded to the magnet school at about 2:40 p.m. 

Police have not yet identified the body, although according to reports, the man found was a vagrant. 

The body showed signs of decomposition, according to police sources. 

Authorities could not confirm at this time whether or not foul play was involved. 

School Principal Steve Buettner sent out the following message to parents:

"Today at school, there was a deceased body of a homeless man in the bushes on the perimeter of our school grounds. The teachers, staff and I insured the impact of this traumatic situation was minimized for your children.

"The proper authorities were contacted and the situation was handled with minimal disruption.

"There will be a traumatic loss team at our school on Wed., May 4, to assist in helping any children, or staff, through this unfortunate situation.

"This team is comprised of counselors, nurses, school social workers, psychologists and pupil personnel workers, from Baltimore County Public Schools, and they will work with our school counselor, addressing any needs at school tomorrow. Thank you."

Lutherville Lab is an award-winning magnet school located at 1700 York Rd, in Lutherville.
