Teen In Deadly Tree Crash On Pot Spring Road Identified

A crane was required to get the tree off the car, which contained a total of four people, Baltimore County public safety officials said.

LUTHERVILLE-TIMONIUM, MD - Police said that a 14-year-old died when a tree fell on the car that she and three others were in during Thursday's severe thunderstorm in Baltimore County.

Ahjee S. Lawrence, of the unit block of Hogarth Circle in Cockeysville, was pronounced dead at the scene on Pot Spring Road at Deer Fox Lane, police said. She was an eighth grade student at Cockeysville Middle School.

Crews responded to calls about a fatal crash after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and found a tree atop a Hyundai Sonata, public safety officials reported.

The Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company used a crane as well as help from a landscaper to pull the tree off the car.

Police said Lawrence, who had been sitting in the back of the vehicle, was pronounced dead.

Her mother, who was driving, was taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Two other passengers — one 14-year-old and one 16-year-old girl — were transported to the Johns Hopkins Children Center, also with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

According to Fox 45, the driver had pulled over to wait out the storm on Pot Spring Road when the tree fell.

The investigation is ongoing into the crash, police said.
