Towson Tigers make a splash in Omaha, swimming to qualify for the 2016 Olympics.

Towson, MD — Four swimmers from Towson University are in Omaha, Neb., this week competing in the U.S. Olympic trials.

Sophomore Jack Saunderson will swim the 200-meter butterfly on Tuesday morning. "I am beyond excited!" he said in a statement provided by Towson Swimming and Diving.

Senior Dominic Breschl contended in the 100-meter backstroke Monday afternoon.

Jenna Van Camp, who just graduated, swam the 100-meter breaststroke Monday afternoon and will compete in the 200-meter breaststroke on Thursday afternoon.

Van Camp said this was the "perfect way to end my swimming career as a Tiger," adding: "I couldn't be more proud of the teammates swimming in Omaha with me and the ones at home who trained with me every day to make this happen."

Fellow graduate Hannah Synder competed Sunday in the 400-meter individual medley.

Having four swimmers at the U.S. Olympic trials is a major accomplishment. Only two Towson Tigers have ever been to the trials before, according to Towson University Athletics officials.

Of the 1,800 swimmers who are competing in the trials, most will go home without qualifying to proceed to Rio de Janeiro; about 9 percent will qualify for the 2016 Olympics, The Washington Post reported.
