8 BCPS Art Teachers Honored By State Art Association

The Maryland Art Education Association is recognizing several Baltimore County art teachers at its awards ceremony this month.

BCPS: Eight art teachers from Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) will be honored this month by the Maryland Art Education Association (MAEA) at their annual awards ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore. The event will feature a student art reception.

“The individuals being honored exemplify not only outstanding teaching in the arts, but also the power of community building within and outside of our schools,” said Sherri Fisher, BCPS coordinator of visual arts. “I am proud that our students are able to benefit from their professionalism, dedication, and expertise.”

Six BCPS teachers will be honored with district recognition:

· Dawn Jewell, West Towson Elementary School – Baltimore County Novice Elementary Art Teacher of the Year

· Tess Stoner, Halstead Academy – Baltimore County Career Elementary Art Teacher of the Year

· Max Savold, Sudbrook Middle Magnet School – Baltimore County Novice Middle School Art Teacher of the Year

· Hayes Bowie, Sudbrook Middle Magnet School – Baltimore County Career Middle School Art Teacher of the Year:

· Elizabeth Eckley, Lansdowne High School, Baltimore County Novice High School Art Teacher of the Year

· Pam Ehrenreich, Chesapeake High School & STEM Academy – Baltimore County Career High School Art Teacher of the Year

Two more teachers have been nominated for statewide awards:

· Rachel Valsing, Towson High School – Maryland State Art Educator of the Year

· Michele Momenzadeh, Perry Hall Middle School – Maryland Middle School Art Teacher of the Year
