COCKEYSVILLE, MD — A second teen tied to the fatal car crash that occurred last week died on Thursday, police confirmed.
An update issued by the Baltimore County Police Department identified the teenager as 16-year-old Andrew Sober, who was driving the 2016 Toyota Prius at the time of the May 1 crash.
Police responded around 9:45 p.m. to the fatal crash that occurred near the intersection of Poplar Hill and Merrymans Mill roads.
Early findings by investigators determined that the car had been traveling southbound on Popular Hill Road when it left the winding roadway and crashed into a tree.
Authorities have not specified what may have prompted the car to go off the road.
An obituary for Sober described him as a "bright and spirited young man whose heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know him."
"Andrew dedicated his time and energy to helping others as a wingman with Athletes Serving Athletes and served as an officer in the Chesapeake chapter of BBYO Baltimore Council," the posting reads.
"Andrew will be lovingly remembered for his passion for playing guitar, his fondness for watermelon and bathrobes, and the special bond he shared with Greta, the family dog."
A funeral service is being held Sunday in Pikesville for Sober. A fundraising effort was also launched for funeral expenses and hospital costs.

At the time of the crash, a total of four people were in the vehicle. Ryan Duvall, an 18-year-old enrolled at Harford Community College, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His sister, Jaime, launched a GoFundMe to help the family cover funeral expenses. She described her brother as "a light in all of our lives."
Duvall's funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Jarrettsville.
The two other passengers in the car were said to be under the age of 18. Police had said one person suffered life-threatening injuries, whereas the second individual was listed as having non-life-threatening injuries.
The Banner reported one of the teens had managed to call 911 before losing consciousness, and that the surviving teens attend Calvert Hall College High School in Towson.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
