TOWSON, MD — A Towson University student was identified as the person killed in a possible road-rage shooting on York Road on Friday.
In a message to the campus community, Towson University President Mark Ginsberg identified the victim as 22-year-old Nasir Majied. He described Majied's death as a devastating loss for the university.
"I join with Nasir’s family, loved ones and all members of the TU community who mourn his passing," Ginsberg wrote. "Our university is working to support Nasir’s family and friends."
The Baltimore County Police Department said the shooting occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. and involved two drivers who were transiting the northbound lanes of York Road.
Joy Lepola-Stewart, a spokesperson for the department, said at a news briefing that Majied had been shot multiple times by another driver and that he was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
Investigators are working to identify and locate the shooter tied to the incident. Police have not said if Majied and the shooter knew each other.
Lepola-Stewart said road rage was a possible cause for the shooting, but that investigators were looking at other possible motives.
Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact authorities at 410-887-4636.
