Baltimore Co. Police Identify 2 Children Killed In Gwynn Oak Home

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The two children fatally shot inside their Gwynn Oak-area home earlier this week were identified on Friday by police.

A release issued by the Baltimore County Police Department identifies the children as 9-year-old Steve Allen and 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie.

Police said the pair were pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to apparent gunshot injuries.

The bodies of Allen and Myrie were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

What's Known So Far About The Case?

Authorities were first called to the home on the 6100 block of Talles Road for reports of a shooting on Tuesday, shortly before 7:30 p.m.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting, previously stating it was the parents of the children who discovered the scene and alerted police.

At a news briefing on Tuesday, Police Chief Robert McCullough said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident. He did not comment on a possible motive or suspects tied to the case.

Police have increased patrols in the neighborhood following the shooting.

Online tips can also be submitted through the Metro Crime Stoppers website or the department's iWATCH program. Officials are offering a $2,000 reward for eligible tips.
