Angel Callejas Fuentes, the 17-year-old driver, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two passengers were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Preliminary findings by investigators determined the 2013 GMC Acadia had been on the eastbound lanes of Liberty Road when it left the roadway and hit a tree.

While no additional details were given, police said the vehicle was tied to "an incident" in Carroll County before it entered Baltimore County.

An investigation into the case remains ongoing.
