• Towson University names executive director for Cardin Center (thedailyrecord.com) — Towson residents may be interested to know Towson University has named legal scholar and former St. John's College president Nora Demleitner as the first executive director of its Ben and Myrna Cardin Center for Civic Engagement & Civil Discourse, starting Sept. 8. Her role will focus on strengthening civic participation, public service, and dialogue on and around campus, potentially expanding community partnerships across Towson and the region.
   

• Baltimore County police officer injured in line-of-duty shooting discharged from rehabilitation facility (nottinghammd.com) — In Towson, Baltimore County police officials say Officer P. Catalfamo, critically wounded in a June line-of-duty shooting, has finally been discharged from rehab after more than two months of recovery. Surrounded by family and fellow officers, he left the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute and will continue healing at home while the department asks the public to respect his privacy.
