Shoplifting and thefts from vehicles are bucking the trend, however, so residents and businesses may still want to stay alert even as overall numbers improve.

Baltimore County introduces legislation to stop commercial house parties in residential neighborhoods (nottinghammd.com) β Baltimore County leaders in Towson are pushing new legislation to crack down on large, for-profit house parties in residential neighborhoods, responding to complaints about recurring pool parties drawing hundreds. The proposal would exempt normal private gatherings but allow police to issue fines up to $5,000 for repeat commercial party organizers once the law takes effect.

3. 75-year-old woman killed in Towson crash (nottinghammd.com) β A 75-year-old woman from the area died after a three-vehicle crash Monday evening on Dulaney Valley Road near Hampton Lane in Towson. Baltimore County police say her Toyota RAV4 was hit after a pickup struck another car, and crash investigators are still working to determine what caused the collision.

Baltimore Events Explore Antisemitism's Long American History (jewishtimes.com) β A noted Jewish historian will visit the Baltimore area on Oct. 13, including a talk for students at Towson University, to explore how antisemitism has long been woven into American history. Her lectures aim to help local Jewish communities better understand current threats, distinguish different forms of antisemitism and anti-Zionism, and think about practical steps to improve security.
