Baltimore County Council To Vote On Extending Data Center Moratorium

TOWSON, MD — The Baltimore County Council will decide Tuesday whether or not to extend its current data center moratorium.

Language included in the extension would give lawmakers until the end of 2027 to weigh possible data center regulations that would address environmental and infrastructure concerns.

The council previously implemented a ban in February that would allow additional time to consider both the benefits and drawbacks.

The latest comes days after the Baltimore County Planning Board approved its own data center report on Sept. 17, complete with 20 amendments.

A vote will take place during the council's Tuesday 6 p.m. legislative session.
