BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A series of road closures will take effect Tuesday as President Donald Trump visits Baltimore County for the announcement of a submarine manufacturing plan.
Hosted by defense company Anduril Industries, the event will see Trump head to Tradepoint Atlantic to promote the 2 million-square-foot manufacturing facility that officials say will directly create 3,100 jobs.
Although Trump is not expected to address a crowd at the Sparrows Point Shipyard until 4 p.m., road closures will be in effect from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The road closures include:
2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Additionally, the Maryland Transit Administration said the following bus routes would also be impacted:
The MTA said travelers could experience delays or route diversions as a result of the Trump visit.
Trump's arrival to the Baltimore Metro region marks a first since he last visited Dundalk as a candidate in 2016.
The Maryland Department of Commerce says the new shipbuilding facility will see an investment of $3.7 million by Anduril Industries, marking what officials say will be the "largest single private investment in Maryland and the largest job creator in Maryland in over a decade."
Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier said in a statement that the new facility, operating under the Arsenal 2 name, "marks a turning point for Sparrows Point."
"For generations, this site shaped America's steel and shipbuilding legacy, including its critical role during World War II, when workers here built the vessels that helped defend our nation," Klausmeier said.
"It also reflects the significant progress at Tradepoint Atlantic, solidifying its status as a premier maritime hub and key partner in our region's economic future, building a stronger, more resilient foundation for the entire region."
The new facility, however, is not expected to open until at least 2030. Once complete, it will operate within the Sparrows Point complex.
Officials say the deal, part of a $2.9 billion defense contract awarded by the U.S. Navy, will rank Anduril among the county's top five employers once it's open for business.
