• Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library announces 'A Toast to 250: Celebrating America With Jon Meacham' (nottinghammd.com) — Towson residents can hear historian Jon Meacham and former Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden discuss America's 250 years at a free community forum on Nov. 15 at Goucher College. A paid reception with a book signing and live music follows, with proceeds supporting Baltimore County Public Library programs. Free and paid tickets become available Oct. 15 through Goucher and the foundation.
• Maryland Gas Station Sells $540K Lottery Jackpot Ticket (meigsindypress.com) — If you've filled up at the Shell on York Road in Towson, you might recognize the spot where a quick $2 Multi-Match ticket turned into a $540,000 jackpot. An Anne Arundel County woman stopped there after a Baltimore County event, later realizing she'd hit the full prize, while the Towson station itself earns a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
• Towson finishes weekend 1-1 after loss to William & Mary (thetowerlight.com) — Towson residents can catch up on how the Towson University volleyball team split its weekend series with William & Mary, dropping Saturday's breast cancer awareness match at SECU Arena in four sets. The young Tigers squad showed flashes of strong play, including standout performances from Kayla Zanon and double-doubles by key hitters, and now turns its focus to Friday's matchup against Campbell University.
