TOWSON, MD — A national fast food chain is expanding in Baltimore County, opening its newest branch in Towson.
Dairy Queen is now offering its selection of burgers, chicken baskets and, of course, its blizzards and dipped ice cream from 1631 E. Joppa Road.
The Towson space previously housed drive-in eatery Sonic, which permanently closed in September 2024.
The restaurant officially opened Monday and is both locally owned and operated by Mohammed Hussain.
"We've been looking forward to opening in Towson and getting to know the community," Hussain said in a release. "There's something nostalgic about Dairy Queen, where everyone has a favorite memory tied to DQ — and we're excited to bring that experience to families here in Towson.
"We hope this becomes a spot people can stop into regularly, whether it's for lunch, dinner, or a Blizzard Treat all year-round," he said.
The restaurant opening marks Dairy Queen's third location in Baltimore County, with sites also established in the Woodlawn and White Marsh communities.
Doors of the Towson branch stay open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
