Bahama Breeze Closes in Towson

Caribbean-themed restaurant is no longer on Joppa Road.

TOWSON, MD – A tropical oasis in downtown Towson shuttered recently amid redevelopment in the area.

Bahama Breeze, the freestanding restaurant at 100 East Joppa Road known for its Caribbean-style cuisine and island spirited drinks, has closed.

A spokesman for Darden, the restaurant's parent company, told WBAL that shuttering on June 1 was a "difficult business decision" and declined to comment further.

Company officials were reportedly trying to help place employees in other restaurants within the Darden family of chains, which includes Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse.

Bahama Breeze had been on Joppa Road for more than a decade. It opened in 2003 and closed without advance notice, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported the closure was tied to the redevelopment of Towson Circle.
