Police Activity at Towson Place, Armed Robbery Suspect in Custody

An armed robbery at Toys R Us prompted road closures.

After an armed robbery was reported Wednesday afternoon at the Toys R Us in the Towson Place shopping center, several roads in the area were closed due to police activity.

A man with a gun was inside the store in the 1200 block of Putty Hill Avenue, the Baltimore County Police Department reported at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect was in custody as of 3:15 p.m., police said. He is 25 years old, according to WJZ.

Stores nearby Toys R Us were closed as a precaution, while other businesses at the shopping center were open, according to law enforcement officials. Police advised shoppers to avoid the area.

No shots were fired, and there were no injuries, police said.

Two people were taken to hospitals from stress related to the incident, WJZ reported.

Eastbound Joppa Road reopened at 3:55 p.m., according to police; it had been closed between Goucher Boulevard and LaSalle Road as authorities responded to the incident.

Prince Road was closed between Goucher Boulevard and Joppa Road, police said. It was shut down at 2:30 p.m. as police handled the robbery.
