Burke Avenue Improvements on the Way: Councilman

Project will come at no cost to property owners, says Baltimore County Councilman David Marks.

This summer, improvements will begin on Burke Avenue in Towson, according to Baltimore County Councilman David Marks.

New sidewalks and crosswalks as well as repaving are part of the $700,000 project, Marks said.

Baltimore County will add sidewalks where they don’t exist; replace curbs, gutters and sidewalks so they meet the Americans with Disabilities Act standards; upgrade street lights; and install bump outs and crosswalks.

“I am pleased that this project is moving forward,” Marks said. “Our office has pushed for these changes since 2011, when we worked with the Department of Public Works to improve nearby Hillen Road. Upgrades to Burke Avenue were also identified by our task force that looked at safety near theBurke/York Road intersection.”
