Maryland-based career education company, CandidCareer.com has added video resumes to its list of core services offered to job candidates. The new feature will enable participants to make their pitch to hiring managers through a two-minute video introduction pre-filmed by Candid Career.
The first video shoot will be held on April 23, 2014 at the Baltimore Broom Factory. Each filming session comes with a one-on-one coaching session, career tips packet, and video posting on CandidCareer.com. Participants can use their video resumes to attract hiring managers by posting it to their professional LinkedIn account. Video topics may include the job seeker’s greatest achievements, biggest challenges overcome, business philosophies, skills offered and desired roles. As the job market tightens for spring graduates, the new service will give job candidates a competitive edge over other contenders.

“Creating a video resume is a great idea in today’s digital world and offers individuals a creative way to enhance their talents,” said recent Towson University graduate, Danielle Greenlow. Greenlow filmed her video resume prior to interviewing for her current position with an insurance firm. “Filming the video resume gave me the confidence and preparation to go through my interview comfortably and with a professional demeanor.”
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate was slightly up, at 6.7 percent in February 2014. In a recent poll, the New York Daily News showed that new college graduates have not been faring any better, with more than 40 percent remaining unemployed.

“In a tough job market it becomes even more essential to separate yourself from the competition in order to secure an interview and ultimately land a job,” said Candid Career Co-founder, Billy Glading. “A video resume offers job seekers the opportunity to let their confidence and personality shine through.”
Candid Career will donate a portion of its proceeds from each filming to a local charity, supporting job growth in the community. The first shoot on April 23rd will benefit The Baltimore Station, an advanced therapeutic residential treatment program supporting veterans and others who are transitioning through the cycle of poverty, addiction and homelessness.
“The Baltimore Station is honored to be a part of this exciting and cutting edge project with CandidCareer.com,” said Director of Development and Communications of The Baltimore Station, Kim Callari. “We are thrilled to be able to benefit from a service that will help people at various stages in their career paths get one step closer to finding a job. The proceeds received from this project will go directly to helping the men in our program at The Baltimore Station who are working hard every day to turn their lives around.”
