The Catonsville Branch is seeking volunteers and "junior buddies" for its Reading Buddies program, which pairs teen volunteers with kids who need extra practice to become proficient readers.

Reading Buddies will be offered Monday through Thursday, from September 18 to November 21. Volunteers will meet with their junior buddy for one hour each week at the Catonsville Branch.

Teen Reading Buddies

Teens who meet the following criteria are encouraged to fill out a Reading Buddy Volunteer application. (PDF)

  • Are 12 to 17 years old
  • Enjoy working with younger students
  • Would like to earn service learning hours as a Reading Buddies volunteer

Junior Buddies

You are encouraged to fill out a Junior Buddy application (PDF) if your child is in the first through fourth grade and is having trouble reading.

All applications must be received by Monday, September 9, and can either be emailed to mcrews@bcpl.net, dropped off at the Catonsville branch or mailed to:
