Christmas Shooting in Towson Leads to Attempted Murder Charge
Police allege two men who knew one another got into an argument outside a residence in Towson on Sunday.

TOWSON, MD — A man was injured in a shooting in Towson on Christmas Day, police said. His acquaintance was arrested and charged with attempted murder, among other offenses, officials reported Tuesday.
Purnell Samuel Summerville, 34, of the 1700 block of Waverly Way in Baltimore, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first and second-degree assault and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Summerville and an acquaintance got into an altercation outside a residence in the 8300 block of Pleasant Plains Road before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, police allege. After a physical struggle, officials said Summerville shot the victim in the upper body.

The 34-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital and was expected to survive, police reported Tuesday.
Authorities said Summerville was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. He has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 20 in Baltimore County District Court, court records show.
