Cinemark Towson Opens Thursday, Offers VIP Seating

International cinema operator premieres new seating arrangement in Towson.

Towson's new movie theater will begin welcoming patrons Thursday evening.

Located off East Joppa Road near Barnes & Noble, Towson Cinemark is a multiplex offering 15 wall-to-ceiling screens. Seven of its auditoriums are 3D capable.

The grand opening coincides with Cinemark's 30-year anniversary, according to a statement from the company, which said of its nearly 500 locations, Towson is the first to present "reserve" seating for moviegoers.

"We're thrilled Cinemark chose downtown Towson to premiere its new 'Reserve Level' concept, which includes a full bar and lounge and VIP seating," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said.

The VIP seating is available in five auditoriums and costs an additional $5, according to WJZ. Access provides a "first-class experience" including private balcony, luxury rocker-style seats with tables and expanded dining options, according to Cinemark.

The theater is expected to draw up to 1 million visitors a year, according to Baltimore magazine.

Cinemark Towson is located at 111 East Joppa Road in Towson. It opens on Thursday, July 10. Get movie listings and showtimes here. Movie patrons can park for $2 an hour with validation in the new 850-space garage at Towson Square next to the theater.
