Kitten in Custody: Police

Honeysuckle, the kitten stolen from the Timonium Petco, was resting his paws at the Cockeysville precinct Tuesday afternoon, police said.

TIMONIUM, MD — A kitten stolen from the Timonium Petco on York Road has been recovered, according to police.

Honeysuckle was removed from his cage in the adoption area at the store on July 5, police reported.

Investigators determined that Honeysuckle had been taken to Dundalk, and police reported Tuesday — two weeks after his catnapping — that he had been located and was being held at the Cockeysville precinct.

While Honeysuckle was up for adoption and looking for a home, the organization in charge of the kittens has a process for ensuring that people and their prospective pets are a good match.

"...every one of us is heartsick," Cindy Frankel, director of Pet Rescue of Maryland, told Patch after Honeysuckle was taken. "We don't know where he is and what kind of care he's getting."

The all-volunteer group has been adopting animals out of the store in the 1700 block of York Road for more than eight years.

Since the kitten theft, Frankel said it moved all of its cats from the store into foster homes.
