Dumbarton Middle School Evacuated, Officials Say

Police and fire personnel were called to the scene before 8 a.m., Baltimore County public safety officials said.

A Towson middle school was evacuated for nearly two hours Monday morning due to a gas leak, Baltimore County officials reported.

At 7:55 a.m. on Monday, first responders were called to Dumbarton Middle School in the 300 block of Dumbarton Road for a report of a gas leak, according to Baltimore County. Someone smelled gas in the cafeteria, WNEW reported.

The school was cleared out so firefighters and police personnel could investigate the situation, and the gas was shut off.

Before 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Baltimore County officials reported BGE was at the scene.

At approximately 9:50 a.m., students were admitted back into the building, police said.
